Medical Services We Provide
Rheumatology Consultation
Rheumatology is a specialized field of medicine that focuses on diagnosing and managing inflammatory conditions affecting the muscles, bones, joints, and internal organs. Read more about common rheumatic diseases.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging uses sound waves to help a physician see inside of a person’s body without invasive surgery or radiation. This is incredibly helpful in the diagnosis and treatment process. Ultrasound is also a useful way to examine inflammation in and around joints. Many types of arthritis – like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and pseudo gout – are very clear to see when looking at a joint with an ultrasound machine. Sometimes, the diseases can’t be seen with normal examination.
Bone Density (DEXA) Review and Interpretation
Bone mineral density (BMD) tests use a special machine to measure your bone density to see if you are at risk for osteoporosis. The test uses x-rays to measure the amount of calcium and other bone minerals that are contained in a given section of bone. Using this test, you can identify bones that are fragile, and possibly susceptible to breaking. The test can be used on hips, the spine, forearms, wrists, fingers, or the heel. It is safe and painless, and a powerful tool in treatment of rheumatic

In-office Blood Drawing
Blood tests, and thorough physical examinations, play a critical role in confirming and diagnosing disease activity. Our in-house laboratory facilities analyze the blood test results, providing valuable information that indicates either the presence or absence of specific disease markers. Positive test results may lead to a diagnosis of a rheumatic disease, and additional laboratory tests can further elucidate the severity of the condition, guiding our physicians in devising an appropriate treatment plan
In-office Immunology and Arthritis Labs
Comprehensive rheumatology labs in our CLIA certified Laboratory are offered in-house to diagnose and comprehensively treat a wide spectrum of rheumatic diseases.
On-site Intravenous Infusion Therapy
Immunotherapy (also called infusion therapy) is when a patient receives medication through an intravenous drip. It is one of the more popular services that doctors offer, because a patient can sit in a comfortable chair and relax while the treatment occurs. Our immunotherapy centers were designed with patient comfort in mind, and our staff at Arthritis Specialty Center has been providing this service to Southeast Idaho for 10 years.
Lifestyle & Exercise Counseling
Guidance on lifestyle adjustments and tailored exercise programs can significantly alleviate pain, enhance emotional well-being, and empower arthritis patients in managing their condition effectively. Whether through a primary care physician or a rheumatologist, patients can receive referrals to skilled physical therapists who specialize in developing personalized exercise regimens tailored to the specific type of arthritis being addressed.
Anti-Inflammatory Diet Counseling
Counseling on an anti-inflammatory diet can educate individuals on making dietary choices that have the potential to mitigate inflammation. An anti-inflammatory diet is characterized more as a dietary approach rather than a rigid set of rules, offering guiding principles for selecting, preparing, and consuming food that may help in reducing inflammation.
Medication Counseling
Medication counseling for arthritis patients can help them develop a medication plan for their specific pain symptoms. Different types of medications are available for arthritis, and the best one for a patient will depend on the type of arthritis they have.
